A fairly obvious ingredient to all living creatures...water!

There is nothing special about the water given to my Java's, I change it every day and it comes straight from the tap.

I use a vitamin additive once a week (see my vitamin page) purely for reassurance so I know my birds are obtaining a healthy level of vitamins.

During the summer, when my birdroom gets very hot, I tend to change the water and drinker twice a day in order to control the development of unwanted bacteria that thrive in warm and humid conditions.

Pictured right is the type of drinker I use, this type of drinker is used by most breeders and hobbyists (like myself) and can be obtained from almost any avicultural supplier.

In stock cages, I house around
ten birds. In this case I provide
two drinkers - In other words,
I use one drinker for five birds.

The photograph on the left show a large type drinker that I use for my large flight cage.

I hang two of these which comfortably supply water to around forty Java's. The water is also changed on a daily basis in these drinkers.

An important factor, often overlooked by some bird keepers, is the provision of bathing water.

Java Sparrow's are avid bathers and take a bath several times a day.

This water is also changed on a daily basis due to the contamination from the droppings.
