The Internet is a great tool for researching
almost any subject. As Java Sparrow's are one of my interests in life, I
have spent many hours on the world wide web looking for new information
that will assist in my eagerness to learn more about the species.
This page has been set up to illustrate some of the "quirky stuff" that
I have found along the way on my journey to discover more about the Java
Sparrow both in aviculture and in the wild.
I will be adding more articles to this over the following months to
share with Java enthusiasts around the world!!

eBay is a pretty obvious place to look for
Java Sparrow related stuff, and quite often it does throw up some weird
and wonderful items. Below is a trader from China who operates an eBay
shop called "Hummingbird
Wood Carving Studio".
The studio is run by Yaoqiang Li who can create just about any kind of
bird you can think of. |
|

|
This is what Yaoqiang Li says about his
studio:
"The finest world class wildlife wood carvings
offered by Hummingbird Wood Carving Studio are ORIGINAL DESIGNS. Over
the past ten years, Hummingbird Studio has supplied the hand carvings
for collectors of America and Europe. I will continually provide the
high quality, genuine and diversified new designs to satisfy my
honourable collectors. I will make sure you could experience the
MAGNIFICENT PROFESSIONAL carvings from my studio. At the same time, the
communication of the art is also welcome".
Like I said above, the studio creates almost any bird you can
think of, take a look for yourself by
clicking here.
The photos below illustrate the Java Sparrow that is produced by the
studio.

In all fairness I would say it's a fairly
accurate representation of the Java Sparrow....considering it was once a
block of wood! |
|
I also came across another eBay sale of a
"stuffed" Java Sparrow that was put up for auction by and Australian
Taxidermist.
I'm not to impressed with this one, I think
I prefer the wooden carving!
Whoever worked on this bird clearly made no
attempt to recreate the tightness of the birds feathers. Also note how
the Taxidermist has left the bird with dropped wings.

I tried to get a screenshot of the eBay auction but it ended before I
got the chance....there were no bids for this though.....does that
surprise you! |

I think this Java has definitely seen
better days!!!

I found another stuffed Java, this time
from someone in the UK. The shape looks better than the previous
mentioned Java but I don't think I'd fancy buying it. This one comes
with a DEFRA certificate too! |
