Since taking on the Java Sparrow in 2005 I built up a stud of, what I consider to be, quality Java Sparrows. I have created this page to give a brief overview of the mutations that I have in my collection. All of the birds I have accuired since 2005 came from the countries top Java Sparrow breeders. These quality bloodlines have been carefully crossed and have resulted in new bloodlines of my own. My current stud consists of the following.....

The Normal, wild type, Java Sparrow is my favourite and are probably the best birds in my stud. I always have around ten pairs of Normals that I can pair up for breeding but I do hold back a number the young birds I breed as they can be used in the following breeding season.

The origins of my bloodlines started with birds from JSSUK chairman Steve Nesbitt and Tony Gladwin. I have also introduced birds into my stud from Dave Pover (JSSUK Secretary).

The pair of Normals pictured right were both bred by me in 2007 and will play a part in my future breeding programme.

Another favourite of mine is the Fawn (or Isabel). I got my first fawns from Phil Thompson and then later from Steve Nesbitt and Tony Gladwin. I also accuired fawns from Belgium which has allowed me to create a fairly wide gene pool accross my stud of Fawns.

I have bred some super quality Fawns from an Agate pairing that are obviously split for the fawn mutation. Again, these will be held back and introduced to my Fawn stud to add diversity to my exsisting bloodlines.

The rarest of all the Java mutations is the Agate. I was lucky enough to obtain some of these birds from one of the three JSSUK committee members who introduced this mutation in to Britain.

Back in 2005 Brian Roberts (Treasurer), Phil Thompson (Show Secretary) and Tony Gladwin (Chairman, now retired from JSSUK) accuired a small stud from a breeder in Belgium. This stud was out-crossed to quality normal bloodlines and a new generation of Agates were produced.

I currently have around ten Agates and plan to outcross further to increase additional family lines.

The newest mutation to my stud is the White Java, I accuired five pairs in 2008, three pairs from Graham Evans from South Wales (who unfortunately decided to give up his Java's due to ill health ) and two pairs from my good friend, and fellow JSSUK colleague, Dave Pover.

Both Graham and Dave have been very successful on the show bench with their White's so I am more than confident that my new stud will yield some great results.
