Throughout the year my Java's receive a staple diet of "foreign finch mix". This rarely changes but additional food is offered prior to, and during, the breeding season.

The Java Sparrow is a very hardy bird and I have successfully bred them with and without live food to raise their young.

Obviously, in the wild the Java will have a much more varied diet so I do attempt to offer as much as I can to try to reflect a "natural" diet. Treat seeds, Minerals and Grits are offered to my bird's throughout the year to maintain general good health.
