The first step is to cut all of the panels required to build this type of nest box.
When I cut these I make the cuts as accurately as possible so when they are fully assembled I have minimal cracks and crevasses for mites to hide in.
These are how all the panels should look after you have cut and sanded smooth all the edges.
I would recommend labeling all the panels with the panel reference to avoid any confusion when assembling.

Line up panel B1 (nest box side) against the 6" edge of panel D (floor panel) and fix together.
I use an electric staple gun (below) to fix the panels together.

Next step is to fix panel B2....now both side panels are in place.

Panel A (make sure you have a pop hole in this panel) is secured nest. Ensure panels B1 and B2 are fixed to panel A and that all of the sides are square.

Fit Panel C to the back of the nest box...this panel is 1/2" shorter that Panels A, B1 and B2 as this will the lid will sit snugly on top of this panel.

At this point you need to fit the smaller half of panel E to the front of the nest box. This panel should have been cut with a 45 degree angle to allow the lid to close snugly.
Ensure that the cut is facing to the bottom of the next box as if this is fitted the wrong way round the lid will not open.

Fit the other half of panel E (the lid) and hinge with 2 wood screws (as above). Use the above dimensions and hinge the lid on panels B1 and B2.

The only thing to do now is fit hangers so that you can fit the nest box to the cage front.
These are "Picture Hangers" that you can get from most D.I.Y stores....I pay 60p for a pair.

The final part of this build is to fit the perch to allow your Java Sparrows to have easier access to their nest box. I haven't put dimensions on where to fit this as what suits my nest box may not fit properly on another cage front.....the perch can go wherever you like!
